Filtered Storage Cabinets For Toxic Odorous Volatile Chemical Containers

Publish Time: 2022-11-08     Origin: Site

It is common practice to store Filtered Storage Cabinets For Toxic Odorous Volatile Chemicals, toxic volatile chemicals in a laboratory fume hood. While this provides safe storage, the fume hood must be operated continuously, resulting in a constant loss of conditioned air in the building. Typically, bottles containing highly toxic chemicals are small in number and size, so the storage required for this purpose is modest. This allows the use of small auxiliary storage cabinets in place of chemical hoods, provided that all vapors from stored chemicals can be retained. These toxic odor filter lockers are made of high-quality galvanized steel and are available in custom sizes.

Why are safety cabinets used to store chemicals?

A safety cabinet is an area where different types of chemicals are stored. These safety cabinets are specially designed to separate acids from alkaline and flammable substances. Each group is stored in a different cabinet. It's called safe because it eliminates the reaction in the event of a leak. This practice is used in storage facilities around the world. Additionally, the safety filter storage cabinet will be designed for the maximum capacity for a specific type of chemical.

What if the chemical is flammable, corrosive, and toxic, how we going to store them?

Such as sodium metal series and white phosphorus or similar chemicals.

It is not enough to store in a metal safety cabinet, the cabinet must be corrosion-resistant, fire-resistant, and equipped with a high-efficiency filtration system to purify the air.

SAFOO ductless ventilation / filtering strong corrosive chemical storage cabinet series is a new technology product with design patent.

This dust filter locker series stores and filters volatile, harmful and toxic chemicals in the cabinet through explosion-proof and fireproof design, protecting the surrounding related personnel from harmful and toxic VOCs inside.

1.   Ductless technology

Ductless technology allows the cabinet to move freely anywhere, easy to relocate and save space in the work area, the ductless filtration system can filter 99.995% of toxic chemicals in the cabinet, making it safer for operators and also good for environmental protection.

2.   Intelligent control

Both ventilation and filtration system are controlled by a resistive touch LCD screen, like Ipad, it is easier to operate, after setting the standard value, once the system detects contamination, the fan system will work automatically and keep working for 24 hours.

3.Filter

High efficiency activated carbon filter, HEPA filter for organic, inorganic or dust.

Efficient filtration by choosing from various types of filters.

4.Body

• The main body of the safety cabinet is made of fully welded double-walled 1.2mm (16guage) high-quality steel plate and anti-corrosion material, yellow paint and epoxy resin powder coating, which are fireproof, explosion-proof and corrosion-resistant. Performance.

• Internal anti-corrosion lining.

• Fire-resistant materials in isolated spaces.

Safe Storage

Proper storage of chemicals reduces the risk of explosions, fires and other accidents. Probably the most important factor in chemical storage safety is keeping the chemical in its original container.

Ensure appropriate signage warns users of hazards and risks with high visibility signage. anywhere near chemicals.

Next, check the label of each chemical container. Labeling is a quick way to determine if a material is a fire, health or reactive hazard.

Chemicals should be located so that incompatible materials are kept separate. You don't want to store water-reactive chemicals next to your sink, oxidizers next to flammables, acids next to bases, or poisons next to your desk.

Chemicals should not be stored or refrigerated with food. Chemical containers should not be stacked on top of each other or stored on the floor where they can be accidentally knocked over. Don't just leave chemical containers where they were last used, or set them aside to make room for other work. Take the time to return the container to the correct storage location.

Maintenance is another important factor in safe chemical storage. Personnel should be assigned to take periodic inventories of chemicals, not only to check for proper storage, but also to check containers for damage or corrosion, signs of leaks, or elevated container pressure. Make sure to dispose of empty or damaged chemicals properly.

Accidents caused by improper storage of chemicals can be prevented. Read labels, follow MSDS recommendations and use common sense. Instruct workers on safe chemical handling and implement safe chemical storage procedures.

Since heat and sparks can cause chemical combustion, store chemicals away from direct sunlight, static electricity, flames and sparks. When storing heavier containers, make sure the shelves are strong enough to support the containers without collapsing.

Make sure the storage shelf material is acid-resistant, fastened to a permanent structure, and strong enough to support the weight of the container. Shelves should have raised edges or be angled slightly back so that containers do not slide off the edges.

You can choose to color-code the containers to correspond with the colors they should be stored on the shelves for quick access and proper storage returns. Never store chemicals above eye level. If a chemical is accidentally knocked over, you risk being washed away by the chemical, resulting in burns or possible blindness. For added safety, ensure first aid kits and materials for cleaning spilled chemicals are easily accessible.

Keys for Safe Chemical Storage:

1. Label hazardous chemicals with the hazardous chemical logo and appropriate hazard warnings.

2. Isolate all incompatible chemicals for proper storage of chemicals in hazard class.

3. Chemicals should not be stored in alphabetical order unless compatible.  4. Flammables greater than ten gallons should be stored in a flammable storage cabinet or storage room.

5. Keep the cabinet door closed when not in use.

6. Corrosive chemicals should be kept out of sight.

7. Avoid storing chemicals on the floor.

8. Store the acid in a dedicated acid cabinet. Nitric acid should be separated from other acids.

9. Store highly toxic or controlled materials in a locked, dedicated poison cabinet.

10. Volatile or odorous chemicals should be stored in a fume hood.

11. Chemical fume hoods shall not be used for storage.

12. Chemicals should be dated upon receipt. This is especially important for peroxide-forming chemicals such as ethers, dioxane, isopropanol, and tetrahydrofuran. Solutions should be labeled and dated when prepared.

13. First aid supplies, emergency phone numbers, eye and emergency showers, fire extinguishers, spill clean-up supplies, and personal protective equipment should be readily available and trained to use.

14. Chemicals stored in explosion-proof refrigerators or freezers should be sealed and marked with the name of the person storing them, in addition to all other necessary hazard warnings.

15. The work area can only store compressed gas cylinders in use. All others should be kept in the compressed gas cylinder storage area.

16. Keep all chemicals away from heat and direct sunlight.
