A wet pipe sprinkler system is an automatic sprinkler system in which the water supply valve is open and the system is always filled with water at supply pressure.For this reason, they are the fastest at catching fire and the easiest to maintain.Wet piping systems are installed where indoor temperatures can remain at or above 40°F (4°C). Much fire prevention education also involves advice on how to reduce false positives.False positives can waste manpower and resources that might be desperately needed in a true emergency. Additionally, firefighters responding to fire truck calls face a higher risk of traffic collisions while driving in an emergency. In 2008, New York State found that 18% of firefighter deaths occurred while responding to calls.

Fire prevention inspections

Many fire departments have fire departments, teams of firefighters who conduct building inspections to make sure they meet fire codes; they also visit schools and daycare centers to give lectures on arson, malicious false alarms, and fire safety.Fire officials are also available to tour their fire stations for visitors.They demonstrate what each of their equipment does, sometimes donning their bunker gear to show what firefighters wear during a fire.A typical fire department consists of a chief fire officer and under him are fire officers.Fire Department personnel have their own insignia, such as the two thin stripes below the epaulets that read "FIREFIGHTER"; the crescent on their helmets; and a collar pin. Depending on the budget, a division may have its own fire engine.In Canada, the national fire service is known as FIPRECAN and is the national voice for fire protection and education in Canada.FIPRECAN is a not-for-profit charity established in 1976.They themselves educate the public and create partnerships with fire departments.Former Canadian Governor-General David Johnston is one of the patrons.

October 3-9 is Fire Protection Week in Canada.Various fire organizations and fire professionals from all over the country, as well as some students and teachers participated in the event.There are also songs and entertainment about fire safety to keep fire education fun. Guest speakers are also an important part of Fire Week. Children often receive prizes as well.In Alberta, Canada, the Alberta Industry Fire Protection Association is the primary fire safety education provider.They host a variety of events throughout the year, from conferences to skills competitions.
