Personnel inspecting fume hoods should be trained.The tasks of the self-test fume hood:The unit's fume hoods should be self-tested at least annually.A risk assessment will indicate whether they need to be checked more frequently.Measure air velocity with an approved and calibrated anemometer.Every college should have an anemometer.We recommend using a thermal anemometer with an accuracy of at least +-3% or +- 0.1 m/s in the interval 0.15 -1.0 m/s or better.Use to mark cabinets that do not meet safety requirements.If the alarm function or the air flow in the cabinet does not meet the safety requirements, the line length should be warned.

Annual external technical inspection

The inspection is based on the requirements given in the standard NS-EN 14175-4.Find the standards for fume hoods.
Inspections completed shall be recorded on a separate form attached to each cabinet.
If a discrepancy is found the cabinet will be labeled with a warning so that the cabinet no longer meets safety requirements.In the case of fume hood problems, actions and reporting should follow the routines documented in Actions and Reports.
Adjustment is part of technical inspection.If discrepancies are found that require maintenance beyond what was included in the inspection the unit's line leader will need to approve the additional maintenance.
