Clean bench, also called as laminar flow hoods, is a kind of one-way flow air purification equipment which provides local dust-free aseptic working environment. It is widely used in medicine and health, food, medical science experiment, optics, electronics, plant tissue culture inoculation and other research and production departments that need local clean sterile working environment. It can also be connected to an assembly line with low noise and mobility. It is a kind of air purification equipment with strong versatility to provide local high cleanliness working environment.

What’s the difference between clean bench and biology safety cabinet?

Clean bench can only protect the reagent and other agents operating in the table from contamination, but does not protect the staff, while the biological safety cabinet is a negative pressure system, which can effectively protect the staff.

What’s the clean bench working principle?

The air will be sucked into the pre-filter through the fan, and filtered into the HEPA filter through the hydrostatic chamber. The filtered air will be sent out in the state of vertical or horizontal airflow, so that the operating area can reach the cleanliness of 100 grade and ensure the production of environmental cleanliness requirements. Based on the airflow direction, there are vertical flow clean bench and horizontal flow clean bench.  

In a specific space, under the centrifugal fan pressure, indoor air goes through the pre-filter , then through the secondary filtration. At last, the clean air comes out from filter system,blows at a stable speed, this airflow takes away dust particles and biological particles, so as to form aseptic high clean working environment.


How to choose a suitable clean bench?

The vertical flow clean bench is a little noisy because the fan is at the top, and the wind blows vertically , which can protect operators much better, so this type is usually applied in the medical lab. Horizontal flow clean bench is quieter, which usually applied in electronics industry, where has little effect on human health.

 In a clean bench, can also be suspended ultraviolet lamp, but should be installed outside the lighting lamp shade, and stagger the arrangement of lights, so as not to interfere with the lighting at work. It is useless to put an ultraviolet lamp inside a lamp shade (glass plate), because ultraviolet light cannot penetrate the glass, and its tube is made of quartz glass, not silicate glass. The length of the service life of the laminar flow hoods depend on the cleanliness of the room air. In temperate regions, the laminar flow hood can be used in the general laboratory, whereas in tropical or subtropical regions, due to the amount of pollen in the atmosphere, or dust areas, the laminar flow hood should be placed in a better indoor use with double doors. Under any circumstances, the air inlet hood of the laminar flow hood should not be facing the open door or window, so as not to affect the service life of the filter. In summary, clean bench ( laminar flow hood ) can Protect your samples from contamination coming from you and the room.
